Why is McDonald's launching this program? |
McDonald's has a long history and strong commitment to ethics and integrity - to doing the right thing. With the introduction of the EU Whistleblower Directive McDonald’s want to ensure that our European Licensees can comply with these new regulations and engage their workers with this important channel of communication. McDonald’s also want to ensure that these goals can be accomplished easily and affordably. |
How can I learn more about the EU Whistleblower Directive? |
The EU Whistleblower Directive, enacted in October 2019, broadly provides a framework to allow for the safe reporting of wrongdoing. The Directive (found at this link) will be implemented through country-specific legislation within all EU member countries by December 17, 2021. |
How does the EU Whistleblower Directive affect my local regulations and legal requirements in my country? |
Each EU member country is in the process of enacting legislation that codifies the Directive for their citizens. Countries are required to enact legislation for the mandatory provisions of the EU Directive, and may choose to enact even stronger measures. DLA Piper, a leading international law firm, is monitoring country-by-country implementation of the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive. This GAN Integrity whistleblowing tool is successfully used by global companies with presence all over the world. You can find DLA Piper's tracker here. |
How long will it take after I sign up before the solution is available for my workers' use? |

How much will the program cost? |
The annual cost will depend on the number of restaurants you operate, starting as low as less than €500 per year and scaling based on the number of restaurants owned/operated. It is an all-inclusive price. McDonald's has negotiated a significant discount on behalf of their licensees. |
Will McDonald's HQ and Corp have access to the reported cases? |
